The Castine Yacht Club is sponsoring the twentieth annual Castine Classic Yacht Race from Castine to Camden on Thursday, August 1. This 19.6nm race will be the first of three day races in conjunction with the Camden Classic Yacht Race to Brooklin and the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta—and will follow the Camden Classic Regatta, July 25-27. The race is open to all monohull Classic and Spirit of Tradition yachts at least 28’ LOA with a valid CRF rating certificate. All yachts will require a new certificate for 2019. See Each yacht must tow a proper dinghy; no toys, please. Failure to do so will result in time penalty and disqualification from winning any prize. Each yacht must have property and third party liability insurance of at least $300,000.

Herreshoff Celebration: On Wedenesday, July 31 we will honor the iconic designs of Nathanael G. Herreshoff, with an exhibition at the Town Dock starting at noon. At 1600 hrs Herreshoff will be honored at a symposium in Delano Auditorium at Maine Maritime Academy, chaired by Bill Lynn, Executive Director of the Herreshoff Marine Museum/America's Cup Hall of Fame, featuring a distinguished panel of skippers, builders and historians.

Spirit of Classic Yacht Races: These three races epitomize the best of sportsmanship and safe sailing. They are “fun” races of old, priceless, classic yachts, many of which do not regularly race competitively. In this spirit, all skippers are expected to sail conservatively and avoid dangerous situations. Indicate your intentions and, if in doubt, give way.
